John Benedict Alvarez Plenos is a Canadian artist and writer based in Alberta, Canada. He graduated from University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Social and Cultural Anthropology, with a minor in Psychology. His paintings specializes in the continuation of neo-expressionist movement with a contemporary take on the post modern world through addressing the human conditions. With the use of acrylic on large to extra large canvases, he emphasizes childlike art inspired by Picasso and Basquiat with a more clean, formal, and purposeful brushstrokes.
He is also a writer who is currently working on his first two books. First is about spectatorship and redefining what the bystander is in the contemporary postmodern world. The second is about faith, God, religion, and the Simulation Hypothesis.
